Lake, river, or sea?
Where do you prefer to go fishing? Lake, river, or the sea?
For the past few years, Bud prefers to go fishing in ponds and small lakes, but he likes to mix it up from time to time for a challenge. “I’ll be switching it up and going out on some bigger bodies of water in search of bigger bass and to learn how to use the electronics better,” he said.
Advice to beginner anglers
What advice would you give to beginner anglers?
According to Bud, "The best advice I could give is just to go out and fish." He emphasizes the value of experiential learning. Although Bud acknowledges that watching YouTube videos or other people fish might be helpful, "getting those reps out there is the most important," he added.
Getting into fishing
What got you into fishing?
Since he was young, Bud has always participated in a range of athletic hobbies, with fishing being one of them. He started bass fishing when he was a high school freshman. It was only after his time as a collegiate baseball player, though, that Bud fully devoted himself to bass fishing.
Dream fishing spot
If you could fish anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“If I could fish anywhere in the world, I’d probably head down to Florida to catch some peacock bass,” Bud answered. Indeed, Florida is an excellent pick, as its waters are warm enough for the native fish from South America to thrive there!
Forgettable fishing tools
What is something you always forget when you go fishing?
When we asked Bud what he usually forgets to bring when he goes out into the water, he admitted that he typically forgets a lot of items when he’s fishing. Bud explained, “I have a bad habit of not packing enough gear, especially when I’m out on my kayak.”
