We got to know US Army veteran and self-proclaimed “Oklahoma’s Worst Angler,” Alex Epperson with these five fishing questions! Read on to learn more about his fishing favorites and stories.
Favorite fish
What are your favorite fish to catch? Why?
When asked what his favorite fish to catch was, Alex gave a simple response: largemouth bass. Even on his YouTube channel, he states, "Largemouth is the goal, but we catch 'em all!”
Go-to fishing spots
Where are your go-to fishing spots?
Alex didn't have a specific location in mind when we asked him where he liked to go fishing. “[My] go-to fishing spots would be smaller lakes that I can get my small boat into,” he answered. Because of this, grass lakes are his preferred fishing spots.
He went on to describe his boat in greater detail: “I have a ‘94 fiberglass Hydra-Sports [boat] that’s 15.5 ft. with a 60-horse, 2-stroke Evinrude and a 74-lb. Minn Kota trolling motor and live scope.”
Live bait vs. artificial lure
Live bait or artificial lure? Why?
“I’m an artificial lure guy,” Alex claimed. Being a fan of bass fishing, Alex likes finesse fishing using up to 8 oz. swimbaits.
Saltwater vs. freshwater
Saltwater or freshwater?
When it comes to saltwater or freshwater, Alex prefers the latter. As he explained in a question above, he likes to fish in grass lakes that he can use his boat in.
Biggest catch
Biggest or heaviest fish that you've caught?
While largemouth bass may range in weight from 1 to 5 pounds on average depending on the environment and habitat, Alex’s personal best was a largemouth bass weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces!
According to Alex’s YouTube channel, “I love fishing, and love creating content!” So if you’d like to see more of Alex, make sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel here where he shares informative reviews, tips, and experiences.
