We asked Tim Anderson, an angler from Texas, five questions to uncover his fishing background, most memorable fishing escapades, and must-have gear to get to know him better. Check out his answers below.
Go-to fishing spots
Where are your go-to fishing spots and why do you usually fish there?
When asked about his go-to fishing spots and why, Tim said he’d actually fish anywhere. But if he had to pick, his favorite spot would be Brushy Creek, located in Austin, Texas. “It’s my happy place,” Tim called it. This is because he has a lot of memories at Brushy Creek—it’s the spot where he first started fishing when he moved to Texas seven years ago. He was also recently baptized there.
Getting into fishing
What got you into fishing?
We also asked Tim how he got into fishing, and he answered that it was his family that first brought him into fishing years ago. However, he was sober and in a new environment when he moved to Texas, and fishing served as a productive hobby in his free time. Fishing was “the best form of therapy for someone like myself,” Tim described.
Bait preferences
Live bait or artificial lure? Why?
“There is something truly awesome about catching a fish on functional art,” Tim said when it comes to bait. This is why he leans more towards artificial baits, particularly hand-crafted swim baits.
Best catches
Biggest or heaviest fish that you’ve caught?
Tim talked about his personal best catches, the Largemouth Bass weighing 10 pounds and 12 pounds on the bank. Even on a kayak, caught one weighing 9 pounds.
Favorite gear
Favorite piece of gear?
On the subject of his favorite piece of gear, Tim described a custom rod that he won during his first tournament. In the said tournament, Tim caught two fish weighing 6 pounds, one weighing 7 pounds, and one weighing 9 pounds. “It was truly some of the best fishing I’ve ever done in a 2-week span,” Tim recounted.
